Did you know that a large monitor can significantly improve your productivity? A couple of years ago I decided to upgrade to a larger 24 inch monitors for both my office and home. I'd read a few articles indicating that the change was significant, and seeing as I work mainly for myself I decided to pull the trigger.

The amount of time I saved was pretty mind blowing. Being able to put documents and web pages side by side saves me on average an hour every single day. It was enough of a change that this year I upgraded to dual 24 inch monitors so that I could have even more screen real estate. Since in my business time is money, I'm glad I made the switch.

If you're in the market for an LED monitor that isn't overly pricey, then consider the Viewsonic ViewSonic VX2452MH. It's an affordable upgrade that looks great in just about any office environment. It displays text and pictures clearly with its full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and with the 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio it has deeper blacks than many previous model LEDs. In 2014 it's probably the best rated LED monitor on the market.

If you are a gamer, then you might want to consider spending a little bit more on the Viewsonic's VX2453MH-LED, which has a slightly better response time. Dell UltraSharp U2711

Whether you're a photo editor, graphic designer, or simply want a screen that is easy-to-read, the Dell UltraSharp U2711 brings a new level of clarity and detail to your work. It's a bit pricier than other monitors in its category, but this is mainly due to its 30 bit Pro-IPS panel which can accurately display up to 1.07 billion colors.

Most common monitors use less expensive TN panels which have to use dithering in order to reach all the 16.7 million colors in the Adobe RGB scale.

In addition to having a wider color gamut, the U2711 also has better viewing angles. If you take a look at the monitor you currently use from an angle that's not straight on, then typically the color will start to change and darken somewhat. The U2711 stays the same at nearly every angle and makes it easier to work on collaborative jobs.

If you're willing to spend a little bit more, then you'll be impressed with the U2711. It has better color accuracy than many other IPS panel monitors in its price range, including Apple's Thunderbolt Display, and offers a wide variety of connectivity and calibration options. You do pay a slight premium for a Samsung product, but for the quality of the pictures and design of the monitor we feel it's worth it.
